There are afternoons in Buenos Aires that invite you to look up, even when the day's goal is to keep your feet moving. Today, I’m sharing the details of a route that combined training, urban connection, and a touch of literary wonder.
The Route:
• Start: Intersection of Güemes and Fray Justo Santa María de Oro streets.
• End: Intersection of Güemes and Darregueyra streets.
• Surface: A mixed route of grass and asphalt—the ideal combination to cushion the impact on joints and maintain a stable cadence.
🌙 A Moment of Wonder: The Afternoon Moon
As I was walking under the daytime sky of Buenos Aires, I was struck by the Moon, perfectly visible in the middle of the afternoon. That contrast between the city routine and the sky brought to mind this fragment by Jorge Luis Borges (from his poem The Moon), which perfectly fits this blend of the everyday and the wondrous:
The Moon "There is such loneliness in all that gold. The moon of the nights is not the moon that the first Adam saw. Long centuries of human waking have flooded it with ancient weeping. Look at it. It is your mirror." — Jorge Luis Borges
📊 Session Analysis: Data and Sensations
It was a very balanced and sustained walking session, ideal for consolidating aerobic endurance and pace control.
• Weather on my side: A clear afternoon sky provided the optimal conditions to maintain a steady pace without suffering from heat fatigue.🧠 Bodily and Environmental Interpretation
• Positive progression: The laps showed a clear improvement, going from 5.7 km/h to 6.1 km/h by the fifth lap. A great sign of physical adaptation and pace control.
Walking under a clear sky enhances spatial perception and boosts your mood. Additionally, the natural evening light is a great ally for regulating the circadian rhythm and promoting post-workout muscle recovery.
The consistency of the steps transformed this exercise into a meditative walk, focused more on fluidity and enjoyment than pure performance. A true experience of Urban Hiking (Urban Trek), city-trekking, and Low-Intensity Steady-State (LISS) urban walking. An active, yet deeply contemplative journey.
