Palermo Walk: Exploring the Heart of CABA

Join us on a relaxed urban stroll through some of the most vibrant streets in the Palermo neighborhood, Buenos Aires.

•    Starting Point: The intersection of Malabia St. and Santa Fe Ave.
•    Ending Point: The intersection of Costa Rica and Medrano streets.

🌳 Squares & Green Spaces
On this route, we crossed three beautiful local spots:
•    Armenia Immigrants Square (Plaza Inmigrantes de Armenia)
•    Antonio Abraham Zinny Small Square (Plazoleta Antonio Abraham Zinny)
•    Latin American Unity Square (Plaza de la Unidad Latinoamericana)

🎨 Urban Art & Murals
Palermo is a living open-air gallery. Here are some of the standout pieces from the walk:
🏝️ A Tropical Escape in the City
•    Artist: Signed by @bel.perrone, a local artist famous for her beach-style murals in Buenos Aires.
•    Theme: A vibrant summer scene featuring someone in a swimsuit riding a bicycle with a surfboard, set against a backdrop of palm trees and the ocean.
•    Context: Painted on a classic brick corner, transforming a simple urban structure into a tropical paradise.

🏛️ BA Landmarks & Fileteado Porteño
Located on an exterior building wall, this mural showcases the Argentine National Congress in an artistic style that blends vibrant colors with sharp black-and-white details.
The piece was painted by the renowned Argentine urban artist Emiliano Franco, better known as EVR GRAFFITI. Decorating a local storefront, the full artwork features iconic Buenos Aires symbols—the Obelisk, a vintage bus, and a couple dancing tango—all framed by the traditional decorative borders of fileteado porteño.

🐗 Child on a Tapir
A striking black-and-white stencil mural hidden on an exterior wall covered in dry vines, depicting a child riding a tapir.

🐛 A Curious Nature Note
During the walk, we spotted a striking yet fairly common biological phenomenon in urban trees: a severe infestation of webworms (commonly known as "cobweb worms" or tent caterpillars). Although the dense, whitish layer might look like the work of an army of giant spiders at first glance, this impressive tapestry is purely larval!

🛤️ Pasaje Atacalco: A Hidden Oasis
Pasaje Atacalco is a hidden, one-block-long alley in Palermo that runs parallel to the San Martín Railroad tracks, connecting Gorriti Street with Honduras Street. It features a unique, sharp curve starting from Gorriti and is a true sanctuary of cobblestones, shade, and silence.
"Atacalco starts in the form of a curve... Approximately one hundred meters later, the street comes to an end at Honduras. The alleyway is very narrow—so much so that only one vehicle can pass at a time... Atacalco, a sort of oasis amidst the noise of the big city, constitutes an invitation to stay and enjoy a bit of silence… and shade. The significant foliage of the grove offers abundant protection from sunlight. This unique characteristic undoubtedly makes this little street a refuge especially sought after in summer."
