The Nuevo Diccionario Lázaro Enciclopédico '90, illustrated with color plates. Published precisely in the year 1990, an "encyclopedic" dictionary despite consisting of just 96 pages measuring 14 x 20 cm. However, I imagine it was considered "encyclopedic" due to the extra material it included: appendices on mathematics, astronomy, geography, first aid, and grammar rules. It was also characterized by countless drawings and a few plates—"plates" being a manner of speaking, as they occupied an entire page dedicated to a specific topic—along with some South American countries, the latter in color. A very innovative dictionary in barely 96 pages; of course, the drawback was its word definitions—very limited in number, and not all words were included, especially the "difficult" ones, which were absent. It was a dictionary meant for browsing and learning, but not of much practical use.
For practical use, there was the Pequeño Diccionario Kapelusz de la Lengua Española. This one had 612 pages measuring 10 x 14 cm and contained no images—just words and words. Extremely complete, it served not only for elementary school but also for high school, and later for any other time you needed to look up a word; this little yet remarkably useful dictionary would get you out of a pinch. It came with a laminated cover made of a rubber-like material that made it more durable. To break up the monotony of the text, it featured one image per letter: at the start of each new letter, it was accompanied by a small illustration.
