On certain media programs related to books

Continuing what was started on this topic in this same blog, in a post titled “On some television programs related to books” (whose direct link is http://reuniendoletras.blogspot.com.ar/2014/09/sobre-algunos-programas-de-television.html), where I briefly discussed three cases: Ver para Leer (Telefe), Materia Prima (Canal a), and Obras Maestras Inconclusas (Encuentro. Foreign production).

Now I am going to discuss other cases in this new entry called “On some media programs related to books”.

The first of these is a television show called Libroteca, which airs on the Canal de la Ciudad (Ciudad Abierta), the public channel of the City of Buenos Aires. Here is the link to its website: http://www.buenosaires.gob.ar/canal-de-la-ciudad/libroteca-con-eugenia-zicavo. The host is Eugenia Zicavo, a young host, columnist, sociologist, and professor who has a Twitter account linked at https://twitter.com/eugeniazicavo, where she usually posts links to the episodes of her show and brief comments related to them, among other things. The host first approached television and books when she co-hosted a segment on a show by journalist Gerardo Rozin back in 2010 called Esta noche, libros (which, by the way, is another show you can enjoy on YouTube).

In each episode, the host interviews a well-known writer, and the most interesting part is when she visits the guest’s home, where they show her their personal library. During the chat, the guest presents their books and shares brief comments on situations that arise in conversation. What is interesting is seeing a diverse array of people from different professions and reading tastes pass through—some who are interesting, others who might initially generate a prejudice, but when you see them as readers, you are surprised. There is always something to take away and learn from each of them. The show is engaging and dynamic. Other segments then follow, such as the children's segment, where the guest is precisely a child who talks about their reading, or the illustrators' segment. Many of the episodes of this show can be watched on YouTube at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLCEZP5bI-uQBBVei3Xue3lS8EdrL8U8m

Another of the programs, this time on the video site YouTube, is a radio show from the town of Esquel. A person who goes by the name Calaverita Mateos (whose website is http://calaveralma.com.ar/) has a radio show called Choike Urbano Lra9 Esquel, and apparently uploads each of the show's segments to YouTube. One of the guest columnists who frequently participates in the show is Daniela Della Bruna, a literature professor with three published poetry books (Suburbio (2011), El desplazamiento (2013), Tarde de Viento (2013)). On the radio show, she is in charge of the literature segment. She does it in an entertaining and very good way: she raises a topic and develops it, which is more focused and therefore more enriching than other shows in the literary style. Furthermore, in the middle of her presentation, she allows herself to laugh at some jokes or fun points of view. Each of her talks (which may focus on writers or a particular topic within literature) is clear, concise, and manages to convey the idea she intends to share to the listener. She has a blog linked at http://noctambulalecturasyescrituras.blogspot.com.ar/, and her radio columns can be watched on YouTube at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=daniela+della+bruna

Next is a webpage called Educatina, which has a Literature section linked at http://www.educatina.com/literatura. Here we can find quite a few videos, all of them theoretical and covering generalities on the subject—in this case, literature. However, the website itself contains many videos on various other subjects such as Art, History, Mathematics, Biology, and many more. It is worth taking a look around and browsing the area that interests you. Additionally, this particular website includes an exercise section in each area, allowing you to test your knowledge with numerous available exercises. At times, although instructional, the videos are a bit slow, making it easy to lose concentration.

Finally, I will add one more, this time a micro-program series called El Señalador - Libros y cultura, which has also been uploaded to YouTube. It also deals with literature and was broadcast by Canal 7 de Neuquén during 2009. It is a production by El Abrelatas, whose website is no longer online, but it does have a Google profile at the following link: https://plus.google.com/116224513904406109286/videos, and the videos can be watched on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/ElAbrelatasNqn/videos. It is quite focused on the topics it develops; I haven't watched all of its episodes thoroughly enough yet to comment further. They are micro-programs since they do not last longer than 3 minutes, making it impossible to get distracted. The ones I have watched are a joy to enjoy. The show is hosted by journalist Norberto Masso. This group of literary micro-stories has a blog whose website is http://elsenialadornqn.blogspot.com.ar/
